If
you are the winning bidder, you will receive an email informing you that you are the winner at the close of the auction. If
you're a first time buyer, we will confirm your billing and shipping details and
charge the card you have on file with us for the amount of the purchase
plus shipping. Generally, shipping will occur on the first Monday or

any other relevant information. You will be able to communicate with the seller using our Message Board found in your Members area (click the top navigation link, "Members," and look under the first column under "Messaging" to read messages to and from other members). The listing process is split up into 7 easy-to-follow steps:
Step 1: Category selection
Step 2: Optional second category selection
Step 3: Writing the Description
Step 4: Auction Settings
Step 5: Shipping Information
Step 6: Listing Preview
Step 7: Listing Confirmation
The following information explains the listing process in detail.
STEP 1 & 2: Category Selection
Choose at least 1 category (second category is optional). At any time you can go "back" by using the “Previous Step” navigation button at the bottom of the page. If you don't see the category you want, please visit your Members page (see this menu link at the top of the page). In your "Members Area" click "Suggest A Category" under "Selling." In PigeonRacer.com, we are open to adding categories that denote a strain of racing pigeons rather than the loft name.
STEP 3: Description
The next step enables you to enter your title and description; an easy-to-use editor allows you to use HTML in your descriptions. However, the title and subtitle text fields allow text only, with a limit to 20 characters in each field. The purpose of this limit is to create a uniform title display for all posted auctions.
STEP 4: Auction Settings
AUCTION TYPE
Standard Auction
This is a single quantity auction, and is the only setting available directly to members.
Dutch Auction
The Dutch Auction option has been disabled for general member use, but may be appropriate in some cases. To use this option, please contact the administrators at info@pigeonracer.com. Dutch auction enables you to list a multiple quantity auction, for example if you have 100 birds to sell, you can list all of these together in a single lot. Bidders will be able to select how many they wish to bid for.
QUANTITY
This field is only active if listing a Dutch auction; please see above for an explanation of this listing type.
AUCTION "STARTS AT"
This requires you to enter the minimum bid (amount of money) you are willing to accept.
BUY OUT
Buy out allows you to set an amount you are willing to sell the item for, straight out. For example you can set the start price to 10.00, but offer interested parties the option to buy the bird immediately for 100.00.
You can also list buy-out-only auctions; these auctions remove all bidding options, meaning the listing can only be purchased for a set amount. To set a buy-out-only auction, you need to set the buy out value to be exactly equal with the start bid.
BID INCREMENT
The auction bid increment is $10.
ITEM FEATURING
The following options are available to you at extra charge:
Home page featured, $5
Category page featured, $3
Bold text, $3
Highlighted (background is yellow), $4
PLEASE NOTE: If you choose "Item Featuring," your post will go live following approval and charge to your credit card.
START / END TIME
This is automatically set for you, beginning at 7:31 pm Thursday evening and ending at 7:30 pm the following week.
IMAGE UPLOAD
IMPORTANT—You must upload at least 1 image of the bird and 1 pedigree image to participate in the PigeonRacer.com auction. Upload images from your local computer or enter the URL (that means the "web address") hosted elsewhere. Also, your image must be under 2 Megabytes in size.
VIDEO UPLOAD
OPTIONAL—You can upload or embed code for 1 video. We strongly suggest that you use EMBED code for placing your video, such as provided by video sites like YouTube.com. Embedded video can be any file size; however, uploaded video can not be larger than 6 megabytes.
AUTO RE-LIST
For convenience you can opt to have your posting automatically re-listed for you, if you did not get a sale; You may have the same auction re-listed up to 5 times, if you have no sale. Please note: if you paid for "Item Featuring" extras, such as "Home Page Featured," then listing fees apply each time your posting repeats.
FINAL STEPS
Proceeding on, you can then review the listing and make changes if required. Please note: you can still edit your listing once live via the members area. The final step provides you with listing confirmation.
PLEASE NOTE: If you decide to edit your auction after it has been approved, you can, but you must wait for admin approval before it can "go live" again.
STEP 5: Shipping
Here, you can enter any important additional shipping information potential buyers would need to know. PigeonRacer.com's posted rates apply in the continental USA. For other areas, please be specific about shipping costs to the buyer.
STEP 6: Preview
See your post as it will appear to others. You can save it as a Draft, go back and edit, or continue to post.
STEP 7: Confirmation
Confirm your post so it can go live following admin approval.
Placing a bid on a bird you are interested in couldn’t be easier! When viewing the details page, you'll see you can enter your bid on the top half of the page.
To place your bid, simply enter the amount you wish to bid, for example, 50.00. (Please note: no currency symbols are required. The bid will be placed in the auction's currency.)
Once done, you will be asked to review your bid and you will also be able to view vital details such as the shipping conditions before confirming your bid. To submit your bid, simply press the “Place Bid” button.
If your bid is high enough to take the lead in the auction, a confirmation message will be displayed to you; however, if your bid has not taken the lead, due to a higher proxy bid from another bidder, you will be invited to make a higher bid.
You can also place a proxy bid. Proxy bidding allows you to enter the highest amount you plan to bid in the auction, and the system then bids for you in $10 increments. At all times, you will only pay the lowest required bid should you win the auction. For example, if the current bid on an auction is $50.00, you can place a proxy bid of $200. Should you remain the only bidder, you will only pay $50.00. However, should the item receive other bids, the site will automatically re-bid for you (up to $200 in this scenario) to ensure you remain in the lead.
If you see a blinking “P” next to the high bid on the racing pigeon detail page, you will know a proxy bid is in effect.
Buy Out works just like "Buy It Now" on Ebay®. If the option is available you can use “Buy Out” to purchase the item immediately without having to place a bid.
The “Buy Out” option will appear on the racing pigeon details page. You will be asked to confirm your intention to buy out the bird before the sale is concluded. A Buy Out cannot be retracted.
The auction watch notifies you of newly listed auctions which contain keywords you have chosen. For example if you are looking for a Black Diamond Hen, you could enter in those keywords from within your members area. Each time a new auction is listed containing those keywords you will be notified by email.
The item watch features lets you keep a close eye on any auction without having to place a bid on it. This feature means you can be kept up to date on how an auction is doing and prepares you to place a winning last minute bid. You can watch any auction by clicking on the “Watch this item” link on any auction page.
